Concept

Release class 1

'E' – Experimental

  • Not regulated
  • Not certified
  • Limited test data available
  • Intended for testing, development, and non-critical applications.
Experimental

Release class 2

'M' – Mature

  • Not regulated
  • Not certified
  • Substantial test data available
  • Well-suited for general applications where compliance with additional standards is not required.
Market Tested

Release class 3

'X' - Extreme

  • Regulated
  • Certified
  • Substantial test data available
  • High levels of supply chain quality oversight
  • Best suited for high-stakes applications requiring certified, tested reliability

  • Major Releases

    1.0 is the initial major release. The first number denotes the major release level and indicates compatibility with other releases.

  • Minor Releases

    The second number signifies a change that does not affect compatibility with previous releases of the same class and major level.

  • Update Policy

    Each release type may be updated over time. Users will be notified of updates and should verify compatibility when integrating with previous products.

  • Update Examples

    E1.5 - Experimental update compatible with E1.0 (first release).
    E2.0 - Experimental update not compatible with E1.5.
